Everyone at Galway Samaritans is a volunteer but it still costs money to run the branch, most of which has to be raised locally.
Everyone who volunteers with Samaritans is supported by their family and friends who often themselves make sacrifices so that we can be there at all hours of the day and night.
No-one in Galway Samaritans gets paid. The Branch is run entirely by Volunteers and we rely on community fundraising to keep our branch going. Normally we hold lots of fundraising events with coffee mornings, flag days and collections days all over Galway and Mayo, however over the last few months the Pandemic has slowed down these sources of income for us.
Your donation will go towards keeping the helpline going - paying for Light and Heat, Insurance, Training and Advertising.
We have to keep making people aware that the helpline exists and is there for everyone.
Your donation will help us in our efforts to achieve our Vision - that of a society where fewer people die by suicide.
