Welcome to Edinburgh & the Lothians Samaritans

Opening our doors 2nd June 1959, Edinburgh & The Lothians Samaritans are soon to celebrate 60 years of listening. We were the 2nd branch of Samaritans to open in the UK and the first to open in Scotland. Our volunteer pride themselves in being there for people when they need a safe place to talk.

From our base in 25 Torphichen Street, our volunteers work with different communities throughout Edinburgh, including Schools, Prisions & Network rail to ensure awareness of what we and support is known through out the city and the surrounding areas.

All of the services and support we offer is provided by volunteers, and we are always looking for new volunteers to join our branch, and we run about four training programmes a year. For more information about how to join us, please follow our volunteer link and look out for our information sessions, which happen monthly giving you an opportunity to discover more about what it means to be a volunteer.
