The Beacon & Tesco Brew Monday Events Raised over £590

Thank you to all who came to support us when we came together for a cuppa on Brew Monday!

Theres always time for a cuppa and a catch-up

Earlier this year, volunteers from Eastbourne & District Samaritans spent time out in the community at The Beacon shopping centre and Tesco Langney, meeting members of the public and raising awareness of the support Samaritans provides.

January can be a difficult time for many people. After the busy Christmas period, the darker days and pressures of the new year can leave people feeling low or overwhelmed. Our volunteers were there to offer a friendly face and the opportunity for anyone to stop for a conversation. Volunteers attended The Beacon on 3 January and 21 January, and were also present for Brew Monday on 19 January, speaking with shoppers and sharing information about Samaritans and the support available locally.

Why Brew Monday?
At Samaritans we know there’s no such thing as ‘Blue Monday’ and that feeling low isn’t just something that happens on Mondays or a random day in January. ​So we say out with the blue and in with the brew! ​

There’s always time for a cuppa and a catch-up. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Monday morning or Saturday night, or if you’re drinking green tea or black coffee. If you’re sharing a cuppa, talking and listening, you’re doing it right.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, over £590 was raised during these events, helping to support the work of Eastbourne & District Samaritans and our 24 hour listening service for anyone who needs someone to talk to. We would like to thank The Beacon Eastbourne, Tesco Langney, and everyone who stopped to have a conversation or show their support.
