How we can help
Our volunteers regularly give talks and workshops in schools and colleges all over Dublin. See our outreach page for further information
We are available by telephone, SMS and email 24/7 all day, every day
You can call in to talk to one of our volunteers any day from 10am-10pm, no appointment necessary
Dublin Samaritans support prisons through our listener schemes.
Our vision is that fewer people die by suicide. We work to achieve this vision by making it our mission to alleviate emotional distress and reduce the incidence of suicidal feelings.
We do this by:
Being available 24 hours a day to provide emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of emotional distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.
Reaching out to high risk groups and communities to reduce the risk of suicide.
Our volunteers visit schools, colleges, organisations and groups to give talks and provide emotional support.
Working in partnership with other organisations, agencies and experts to achieve our vision.
Influencing public policy and raising awareness of the challenges of reducing suicide.
People phone or visit and some prefer to text, write or email. We have 6 telephone lines and are available on these 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We also have quiet rooms in 112 Marlborough St, where people can come to talk. Our doors are open from 10 am to 10 pm every day.
Last year we took over 113, 000 calls in Dublin branch alone. With your help we can be there for even more callers this year.
Our sister branch, East Coast Samaritans, is based in Arklow, Co. Wicklow, Click Here for further details.
