A message from our local director Paul Stevens
Thank you for visiting our website. We are one of more than 200 branches and locations across the UK and Ireland. Centred on our branch in Chelmsford, our catchment area covers all 'CMXX' post codes, stretching from Epping and Harlow in the west, through Saffron Walden in the North, Maldon and Marks Tey in the east, to Brentwood in the south. We open over 50% of the hours in a week including through the night, supporting callers, who contact us suffering with emotional distress and despair, by phone, email, and face-to-face. We support HMP Chelmsford, training prison listeners, and can be seen regularly performing Outreach at Chelmsford Station. Like all branches we are run entirely by volunteers. We always need new listening volunteers and even if you feel listening is not for you, we still welcome people who have other expertise and experience to offer, for example in the area of fund raising. If you are interested in learning more about volunteering please contact us via the details on the site. This year is an especially important one for us: it is 50 years since we moved into our current home on Critchett Terrace. We plan on marking the anniversary in as many ways as we can. And we intend on being here for another 50 years!
