The Samaritans of Buxton and High Peak branch was founded in 1975.
Our volunteers come not just from Buxton, but from all areas of the High Peak. Our approximately 50 volunteers provide an incredibly valuable service to those in distress or despair.
In 2022 the branch gave 5728 hours (totalling almost 120 days) of support to people calling Samaritans, either through telephone support or through online chat support. That's an average of 150 hours a year per trained Samaritan.
We are passionate about the support we give to our community, we recently took part in Brew Monday at Glossop train station and we are always looking at new ways to support people outside of the branch.

- Each year, every Samaritans Branch is expected to raise their own funds to support their local service. The Buxton volunteers are grateful for the very important fundraising activities that help them continue to provide the excellent service they give.
