Each call a Samaritan answers has the power to save a life.
Major gifts and multi-year pledges make these calls possible. We couldn’t be there every hour of the day, to help people find the strength to keep going, without the generosity of our donors.
Our dedicated Philanthropy team is here to connect your passions with our most vital work and projects. Please email Victoria and Cath to set up a call or a coffee to chat about how you can make a difference:
I've called Samaritans a few times throughout my life when it's been difficult to get the support I’ve needed. Without that call, I might not be here today – that’s the honest answer. It’s not too much to say that the person I spoke to saved my life that night.

Why your gift matters
Suicide remains the biggest killer of young people under 35 and middle-aged men. But suicide isn’t inevitable and we are the charity that prevents suicide through the power of human connection.
Our specially-trained volunteers are there, 24/7, to offer a non-judgmental listening ear to people in crisis, and we answer a call for help every 10 seconds.
How can I make an impact?
£2,500
could cover the cost of 250 people in crisis getting through and speaking to a Samaritan
£13,330
could help cover the costs of recruiting and training 100 new listening volunteers
£99,000
could fund the delivery of our online chat helpline service for three months
Your support could help make tomorrow feel possible for thousands of people in crisis. To schedule a call to find out more, please email [email protected] and a member of the team will be in touch.
What can I expect as a donor?
We understand that giving a major gift can be deeply personal. Whether you choose to give an unrestricted gift or support a specific project or theme, we’ll personalise how you hear from us, and keep you close to the work you fund via bespoke updates and invitations.
Your privacy is important to us; we’ll ensure your donations are recognised in line with your preferences, whether you’d prefer anonymity or opportunities for public recognition.

Ways to give

We also often partner with ShareGift.

Matched-funding opportunities
We occasionally offer opportunities to double your donations through fundraising campaigns such as the Big Give.
If you’re interested in pledging generous funds to help us leverage further donations from new and existing supporters, please do get in touch with the team at [email protected].
GIft Aid and tax relief
Under the Gift Aid scheme, Samaritans can reclaim an extra 25% in tax on every eligible donation made by a UK taxpayer at no additional cost to you. If you're a higher-rate taxpayer, you may also be able to claim back the difference between the tax you have paid and what we reclaim.
For example, if you donate £10,000, we can claim Gift Aid to increase your donation to £12,500.
If you pay 40% tax, you could personally claim back £2,500.
You can complete a Gift Aid declaration via our website, or contact [email protected] for support.
We'd love to hear from you
