2021 continued to be a year of isolation and upheaval for many. But we managed to keep our helpline services open 24 hours a day, even at the height of the pandemic.
We received millions of calls for help this year – many dealing with coronavirus on top of the usual stresses of life. With other services stretched to their limit, Samaritans is a lifeline to many.
In the UK, men are three times more likely to take their own lives than women.
Everything that’s been said about our service being needed more than ever is true. Most of my calls were intense. I was so glad I could be there. And the callers were all so grateful too.
