Why Samaritans need your support
We know that life can sometimes be incredibly tough. Thanks to the dedication of more than 20,000 volunteers, Samaritans can be there for anyone, whatever they are going through and whenever they are struggling to cope. We’re also at the heart of local communities, working with schools, workplaces, railways, prisons and hospitals to offer training and support, preventing suicide and helping people turn their lives around.
Our life-saving work wouldn’t be possible without the extraordinary generosity of our event participants.

About The Flora Maverick Jurassic Coast Hike 2026
Set in the home of Maverick Race, we are excited to introduce the brand-new Maverick Hike charity-entry-only event, offering two spectacular trail distances – a Half Marathon and Full Marathon route – taking you on an unforgettable journey around the Isle of Purbeck and along part of the 95-mile stretch of the world-famous Jurassic Coast.
Both routes start just outside the picturesque village of Corfe Castle, where you’ll set off across open heathland before gradually making your way towards the dramatic coastline. This is your chance to slow the pace, take it all in, and fully immerse yourself in the landscape.
The Half Marathon route will guide you along sweeping coastal ridge-lines via the Purbeck Way, passing the iconic Old Harry Rocks — a true highlight of the Purbecks.
For those taking on the Full Marathon hike, the adventure continues deeper into this remarkable peninsula. You’ll head down towards Durlston Country Park & Winspit Quarry before reaching the dramatic steps at St Aldhelm's Head. From there, you’ll follow sections of the Hardy Way, catching a glimpse of Corfe Castle as you descend across Knowle Hill. As you approach the finish, the atmosphere builds — and you’ll hear the unmistakable Maverick cowbells welcoming you home.
This event is about exploration, camaraderie and challenge at your own pace. Whether you're an experienced long-distance walker or taking on your first endurance hike, these routes will both inspire and test you in equal measure. Expect stunning views, rolling hills and sections that will make you dig deep — but always with reward waiting around the next corner.
There truly aren’t views in the UK quite like the Jurassic Coast, and there’s no outdoor experience quite like a Maverick event. Join us this October for a day of fresh air, big landscapes and shared adventure.
Why not make a weekend of it and camp at the start/finish location? Stay at Burnbake Forest Lodges & Campsite and turn your hike into a full Purbeck escape.
Please note that this is a walking-only event.
