Exam stress affects a large proportion of teenagers every year. About two million young people in the UK will be taking exams this summer.

DEAL: let it out

In this session we will learn: the benefits and risks of expressing our feelings; how we can express feelings in different ways using written words; how poetry and other creative channels can help to express feelings

DEAL: talking helps: it’s hard to say

In this session we will learn: it can be difficult to tell someone your problems; who you can go to for support; how talking can help.

DEAL: helping my friends

In this session we will learn: to identify when friends need help; to identify the thoughts and feelings of someone who is feeling low; to identify agencies that can help

DEAL: my support network

In this session we will learn: there are people who can help; who to talk to about different kinds of problems; no problem is too big or small to deal with; support networks change over time; support networks are different for different people

DEAL: Coping with changes

We all react differently to changes in our lives. What is important is that when we are struggling with how we are feeling, we need to be able to ask for help and talk to someone.

DEAL: what is emotional health?

This session is a starting activity for any year group to introduce the theme of emotional health and gauge the level of understanding amongst students.

DEAL: Managing stress, making choices

In this session we will learn that we all have control over how we react to a challenge or stress; to understand the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviour; to use problem-solving skills; that how we react and cope is individual to each of us

DEAL: Building resilience

In this session we will learn: there are a range of coping strategies that can be helpful; to understand that everyone experiences difficult times and feelings; resilience is about working through challenging times.
