The Rochdale, Oldham and District branch of Samaritans began in March 1967 and has been supporting people throughout the area and beyond ever since.

Our Listening Volunteers

We are available 24/7 by phone on 116123.

We're all volunteers here and we really want to do our best to be there for people who are struggling emotionally and need a listening ear.

We are proud to provide 24/7 emotional support as part of the Samaritans organisation.

We always need listening volunteers, so if you are thinking about volunteering with us, please follow the link below and you'll find lots of information and guidance as to what to do next.

We, as volunteers, have to rely on our own fundraising activities as well as donations to keep our branch open and running. Why not think about us when you're doing your next fundraising event? Or maybe you'd prefer to make a one-off or a monthly donation? We would really appreciate it and you would be helping to support our callers who need to talk to us. Please follow the link below. Or maybe it's easier to make a simple one-off donation by text!

Text RODSAMS to 70085

Texts cost donation plus one standard rate message and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone and SMS. If you’d like to donate but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text RODSAMSNOINFO to 70085.

You can choose how much you would like to donate by adding the amount after RODSAMS. For example, if you wished to donate £5, you could do so by texting RODSAMS 5 to 70085. You can select any whole amount between £1 and £20.

Thank you for your support!

We work in partnership with our local Suicide Prevention Groups in Rochdale, Oldham and Tameside and with the Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.
