Our Branch were present at Northallerton Station on Wednesday 10th September, on World Suicide Prevention Awareness day
Northallerton and the Dales Branch were present at Northallerton Station on Wednesday 10th September, on World Suicide Prevention Awareness Day. Andrea 526, Julian 547, Rob 609 and Jan 585 were covering two shifts from 7am -9am and 4pm -6pm, the busiest times at the station and left literature for the rail staff to use in our absence. Our regular presence at Northallerton station means we have a meaningful relationship with the staff who know us and call on us when they think we can be of help.
It was particularly heartening to appreciate how well we were received by members of the public who were pleased to see us there on this important day. One person said, ‘Wonderful, I’m so pleased to see you here today, it is so important what you are doing.’ Another person, who is an NHS mental health worker said, ‘I saw you this morning, I was in a rush, so pleased to see you again, we are part of a team.’ It is very evident that we are well embedded into the minds of the people of Northallerton and the Dales, who value the contribution we make to the communities, as does Network Rail and its colleagues.
We will be back again at Northallerton Station for World Mental Health Day, on Friday 10th October 7-9am and 4-6pm.
