Our Education Outreach team have been busy at Lancaster and Morecambe College delivering mental health workshops.
We had a marathon couple of days at the college at the end of February delivering one-hour workshops with 11 different groups of students. Most of the groups were on mainstream courses such as Forensic Science, Travel and Tourism, Hair and Beauty and E-Sports while some were taking Foundation Years, concentrating on Maths and English.
The theme of the workshops was ‘How to Look After Yourself and Your Friends’. The students were keen to learn and share how to support each other.
This year we have worked with over 150 students between 16 and 22 years old, many of whom have significant challenges in their lives. The pastoral team are firmly of the view that all of the students benefit from the opportunity to learn about coping strategies and are grateful for the support the workshops provide, especially to the most vulnerable.
