We want everyone to know that Samaritans are here to listen, any time, free from any phone. To get this message out there, we have a brilliant team of outreach volunteers, giving talks, attending events and getting involved in the community.
You've probably seen us and about in North Hertfordshire. Here is just some of what we get up to:
- Local Railway Stations: An important part of Samaritans work is our partnership with Network Rail. As well as raising awareness at local stations, we also support the staff and provide training to help them learn how to approach vulnerable people. Our four main stations are Stevenage, Hitchin, Knebworth and Biggleswade.
- Lister Hospital, Stevenage: On the last Friday of each month we have an awareness display. You should be able to find us by the Staff Experience Hub on the main corridor from the entrance just before the lifts from 10am to 2.30 pm. We talk to patients, staff and visitors to let them know about their local Samaritans branch. * People can always contact us on 116 123 or by email [email protected]. *
- Information Talks: Our talks team speak at local schools, events, well-being groups, workplaces and to community groups. If you would like to find out more, or request a talk at your event or organisation, please email us.
- Events: We can often be spotted at local events such as Hitchin Health and Wellbeing Day, talking to people about Samaritans and helping to raise funds to support the vital work we do.
