Harrow Samaritans Bring the Campaign to Harrow and Wealdstone Station
Samaritans’ Small Talk Saves Lives campaign continues to encourage everyone to reach out with a simple conversation to support people who may be struggling.
As part of this national effort, volunteers from Harrow Samaritans took to Harrow and Wealdstone station to connect with commuters and share the campaign’s vital message face-to-face.
Armed with leaflets, conversation starters and supportive presence, our volunteers engaged with commuters to raise awareness about how small talk really can save lives and that anyone can make a difference simply by reaching out and starting a conversation.
Why this matters...
Suicidal thoughts often feel isolating, but reaching out can change everything. With over 1,900 suicide interventions on the rail network in 2023/24, the campaign highlights how everyday people play a crucial role in spotting distress and offering support.*
Our volunteers’ presence at Harrow and Wealdstone station reinforced that suicide prevention isn’t just for professionals - it’s a community effort where simple conversations make a life-saving difference.
