Your words can help save a life. If you notice someone who doesn’t seem OK, starting a small conversation could make a real difference.
Since it began in 2017, the Small Talk Saves Lives campaign has encouraged people to start a simple conversation if they notice someone who may not be feeling OK at railway stations or other public places, as long as they feel safe to do so. The initiative, delivered in partnership with Network Rail and the British Transport Police, aims to empower individuals to approach others and offer support through small but meaningful interactions.
This year, the campaign will take place from 5 March to 26 March 2026, encouraging people to feel confident about starting a conversation if they see someone who appears to be struggling.
