As a local Samaritans Branch of a national charity we are a stand alone branch, means that we are run by only volunteers and raise every penny ourselves to ensure we can keep our local Harrogate & District service running 24/7 365 days a week.
We contribute to the efforts of the 201 branches across the UK and ROI.
Our annual impact report contains stats and information on all the work we do including:
- More than 3.3 million calls for help were answered, with someone reaching out every 10 seconds.
- 23,000 people volunteered their time for Samaritans across the UK and Ireland, day and night, 365 days a year.
- Samaritans was awarded Humanitarian Organisation of the Year by the Irish Red Cross.
- Policy and law makers were engaged 831 times to help make suicide prevention a national priority.
- 2,700 rail staff were trained to make potentially life‑saving interventions.
- Over 6,000 employees across more than 120 organisations were trained in skills to support themselves and others.
- Samaritans Listeners in prisons provided face‑to‑face support to people in custody more than 46,000 times.
