Neil Beattie to Visit Samaritans of Dunfermline Friday 25th July 25
Neil Beattie
My Story
My mum used to be the Regional Director of the Samaritans in Scotland and she has asked me numerous times "Why don't you do a charity bike ride to raise funds for the Samaritans?" Well 16 years after first planning to do this ride, I am finally set to cyle around all 19 Scottish Samaritans branches in July. I would be delighted if you would donate to help fund the fantastic work that the Samaritans do.
The Samaritans are an amazing organisation who have already, and continue to help thousands of people every day with free emotional support to anyone who may be struggling. The Samaritans offer a safe space for people to talk without judgement or pressure and have helped countless people over the years.
I will set off from the Lerwick Samaritans branch on the 23rd July then after a short cycle to the ferry I will sail to Aberdeen and then cycling to Samaritans branches in Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth, Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline, Falkirk, Edinburgh, Selkirk, Dumfries, Hamilton, Glasgow, Kilmarnock, Greenock, Stornoway, Elgin, Inverness, Thurso and Orkney then completing the loop back in Lerwick after 14 days of cycling through Scotland. I estimate I will cycle more than 1200 miles during this trip and climb over 30,000 feet (higher than Mt Everest!).
It would mean the world to me if you are able to donate to ensure that the Samaritans can continue the great work that they do, plus if I raise enough my mum might stop badgering me!!
