About Chiltern Samaritans
Chiltern Samaritans has provided emotional support to people in our local area and beyond since 1968. We give people time and space to express their feelings in a safe and confidential environment. We listen, we don't judge and we never tell people what they should do.
We aim to be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year. We mainly support the following areas.
- High Wycombe
- The Chalfonts
- Great Missenden
We are within a five minute walk from Amersham Station (London Underground Metropolitan Line and Chiltern Railways) and the High Street. Each year, over 100 volunteers provide support to more than 26,000 people in distress or despair; by phone, email, text and face-to-face. Anyone can drop into the branch to talk to one of our volunteers in a private room. No appointment needed - you can speak to someone from 7:00am to 9:30pm seven days/week. Free parking is available on site
Working in our Community
We reach out to people and organisations within our community to raise awareness of our service and support as many people in need as possible. Our Outreach team works with HMP Aylesbury, community and local organisations, local councils, businesses and charities.

Volunteering for Chiltern Samaritans
The branch is run solely by volunteers and there are many different ways for people to get involved. Most volunteers support callers by phone, email and text. However, our branch could not operate without the help of our support volunteers who provide administrative and operational expertise. We welcome those who are interested in learning about volunteering with Chiltern Samaritans, in whatever capacity. To find out more information about what it is like to volunteer with us click here
Our branch is totally dependent on public donations, the fundraising efforts of our volunteers and corporate sponsorship. We would be very grateful for your support. You can do so by attending an event, donating to our branch, or suggesting ideas as to how we can raise funds. If you would like to offer your expertise in this area we would be delighted to welcome you as a support volunteer.
More information about our fundraising activities can be found here.
21 January 2019 is known as 'Blue Monday' - one of the most difficult days of the year. We don't want it to be this way. How about 'Brew Monday'? Don't be blue, grab a friend for a brew. We will be at Amersham station during the morning rush-hour on Monday to talk to commuters and to encourage them to make time to hook up with someone for a chat and a brew. We will also be in Amersham High Street close to HSBC/St Michael's Church/Robert Dyas with home-made cakes (on us!) and Brew Monday Tea. Come and say hi, we would love to see you
