At this year’s Armed Forces Day at Himley Hall, the Brierley Hill Samaritans weren’t just visitors, we were quiet champions of compassion.
Himley Hall
As volunteers with Samaritans, we’re used to quiet conversations, the kind where someone finally says what’s been weighing on their chest. But this Armed Forces Day at Himley Hall, it was the hum of a brass band, laughter from swing dancers, and proud salutes from veterans that filled the air. And amidst all the celebration, we found a powerful space for connection, standing with those who served.
Our stand wasn't grand. No banners shouting, no flashing lights. Just warm smiles and open ears. We spoke with ex-service members who shared stories they'd never told before.
