In a record breaking summer heatwave our volunteers have been out enjoying themselves and meeting lots of lovely new people.
First off we had the Banbury Town Mayor's Funday in Peoples Park on 13 July. The famous crushed car competition returned with the fiendishly difficult Vauxhall Corsa being correctly guessed by Arthur. The temperature soared throughout the day and for once our gazebo provided shelter from the sun's rays instead of rain.
Having cooled off a little we were again out in the sun for the Brailes Village Show on 9th August where apparently it was compulsory to sample the baking from some of the delicious cake stalls. We were accompanied by our honorary dog volunteer sporting an array of promotional stickers and enjoying a bit of a fuss from visitors.
By the time we reached 17th September and the Banbury and Bicester College Freshers Fair, the weather had returned to normal and we had to decamp indoors due to the rain; but it gave our volunteers the opportunity to test out their very smart new fleecy jackets.
The engagement from students was as always at BCAC just amazing - many of them talking about ways they find to relax when feeling stressed; they enthusiastically wrote their tips on Post Its with the top one being listening to music closely followed by crafting of all types; talking with friends, watching television (with or without a cat on their lap) and physical activities / taking part in sport.
As we head into the autumn and winter we'll still be out and about in Banbury and the surrounding area so keep an eye on our Twitter feed for updates @BanburySams
