Our collaborative ethos not only capatalises on the strengths of each organisation involved , but also forges a formidable alliance that can drive profound, enduring shifts in mental health and suicide prevention policies.
As the initiators of this collective endeavor, we are steadfast in our commitment to reshaping policy for the better. We highly value the diverse perspectives of all our colleagues working within the community and voluntary sector and believe that our united efforts, will usher in a successful and influential alliance.
Our vision is of a society where mental health is prioritised, mental health inequalities are eradicated and everyone has equitable access to timely and effective services and programmes.
We will achieve all of this by influencing policy through:
- Ensuring that the voices of individuals and families with lived experience help shape policy decisions.
- Advocating for evidence-informed policies that prioritise mental health and suicide prevention.
- Holding policymakers accountable for transparent and effective allocation of resources towards mental health iniatives.
- Upholding equality by advocating for accessible mental health services across the region.
- Ensuring that policy makers harness the skills, experience and agility of the community and voluntary sector to help better tackle challenges facing our society.
- Promoting holistic approaches to mental health care, encompassing prevention, early intervention and crisis support services across all stages of life.
- Highlighting social determinant of mental health, such as poverty and discrimination, alongside environmental factors like housing and pollution, to inform policy decisions.
- Advocating for comprehensive suicide prevention efforts, including awareness campaigns, crisis support services, and community-based interventions, as integral components of mental health policy.
- Advocating for policy frameworks that foster a society where individuals not only survive but thrive, with mental well-being as a cornerstone of societal progress.
