How we will implement change and how you can get involved
We know that change on this scale will take time, money and commitment. We are realistic that this programme will take up to seven to 10 years to fully implement and some things will be faster than others. But most importantly, change takes us all working together.
We recently conducted a listening and engagement period where over 3,500 volunteers engaged with us through webinars and by providing feedback. We heard strong and passionate views, reflecting the deep connection volunteers have to Samaritans, our callers and their local branch.
While some supported aligning our strategy with our core vision of reducing suicide, and addressing critical challenges such as volunteer shortages and modernising services to meet demand, we do not underestimate the impact on volunteers. We are continuously grateful to these thousands of individuals who give up their time and are deeply committed to helping others. Together we are Samaritans.
We all know that we are losing too many lives to suicide. By working collaboratively we will ensure Samaritans is here in 10, 20, 30 years’ time, for all the people who need us.
We must take action to prevent suicide today, because tomorrow is too late. If you believe the power of human connection can prevent suicide, join us.
