Welcome to Hull branch of Samaritans
About Samaritans
About Hull branch Samaritans believes that offering people the opportunity to be listened to in confidence, and accepted without prejudice, can alleviate despair and suicidal feelings. In offering this service we hope to achieve our vision of a society where fewer people die by suicide. It is the aim of Samaritans to make emotional health a mainstream issue.
Are you a good listener? This site gives you some idea of the skills and abilities you'll need. Samaritans have a detailed and carefully planned training and preparation programme to equip you for your vital role. If you'd like to help, but are not sure of your capabilities, you will probably make a good Samaritan. Remember, Samaritans don't pretend to be experts - just committed individuals who give their time freely, 24 hours a day, to listen to others in complete confidence and try to understand how they feel. If you feel you may be the kind of person we are looking for and you wish to take things a stage further, please get in touch with us. Simply contact us at 75 Spring Bank, telephone us on 01482 323456, or send an email to: hullsamaritans@hullsamaritans.karoo.co.uk
