Opening our doors on 2nd June 1959, Edinburgh and the Lothian Samaritans was the second branch to be set up in the UK and the first in Scotland. Since then we have remained an open door for the local community, who need support from us. Our branch prides itself in being able to offer a safe place for people to be themselves and talk openly about whatever is on their minds.
Volunteering in Edinburgh and the Lothians Branch
We have around 150 volunteers in Edinburgh, but we are always looking for new people to join our team and carry out the many volunteering roles within our branch. If you want to learn what it's like to be a volunteer with Samaritans then visit our pages on how volunteering with us can change your life. If you would like to know more or for an informal chat, get in touch using the General Enquires Form. Alternatively, why not come along to one of our information evenings, which will give you a flavour of what to expect from volunteering. You will be made very welcome.
