Welcome to Kirkcaldy and East Fife Samaritans
246 St.Clair Street, Kirkcaldy, Fife, KY1 2DB.

Samaritans emotional support, for those in crisis, depressed and feeling suicidal ("want to die").

Samaritans are available 24 hours a day to provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.

Almost everyone feels, at some stage in their life, that "things are getting too difficult to cope with anymore."

Should you (or someone close to you) feel so depressed that you begin to have thoughts of suicide ("want to kill myself"), we offer someone to listen to you, in confidence, without passing judgement.

Samaritans are not a religious or a political organisation. We don't make judgments and we don't offer advice. Instead, we believe in the value of having time and space to explore difficult feelings. We also believe that being listened to in confidence, and accepted without prejudice, can alleviate despair and suicidal feelings.

Use the links on the left to find out more about what we do, together with how and why we do it. We always welcome new volunteers to the Branch and we invite you to get in touch if you are interested.

Whether you are seeking support, are interested in becoming a volunteer or would just like to know more for any reason we hope you will find what you are looking for on this website.

Do you really want to die or do you not want to live? Sometimes what we really mean when we say "I want to kill myself" is that we no longer want to "live the life I am living". Your life can change. You could have everything to live for.

Samaritans are here to listen and support you through your period of crisis.

"The Samaritan organisation has been with us for over 50 years. During that time volunteers have been available to give emotional support to anyone who felt in distress. Their valuable work is based on a desire that fewer people die by suicide and by allowing people to express negative thoughts and feelings, without being judged, can often bring some comfort and even hope to them.
I endorse the Samaritan movement and I am pleased that in addition to available contact by telephone, email and letter, Kirkcaldy branch has set up a website.

I wish the branch every success with this venture and congratulate everyone involved."
