Samaritans at Derby

There has been a branch of Samaritans at Derby for over fifty years. We answered our first phone call on 27th January 1961. Since then the phone has rung many times but some things never change. Today, as in 1961, we are staffed entirely by volunteers and at the start of 2012 we had about 80  volunteers regularly supporting callers.

We are part of something bigger

Where Are We?

Our centre is located at 110 Burton Rd - not far from the town centre - for further details see How to find us . Our branch telephone number is 01332 36 44 44.

Most people contact us by phone, but you can also visit us - you can call in to speak with a Samaritan most days of the week, all year round. If you are making a journey specifically to visit us we do recommend that you phone beforehand on 01332 36 44 44 to check that we will be open when you visit.

Some people also contact Samaritans by letter, and a growing number now use email.  In February of 2003, Derby branch became the 100th branch 'online' to receive and reply to emails. Since 2006 the branch has also been supporting people who have contacted Samaritans by text.
