About Wigan Samaritans
Our branch has been providing support to people in our local area and for a number of years.
We offer emotional support in person, by telephone, by email and by text and on average each year we help over 22,900 people going through a tough time.
Our Work in the Wigan Community
A really important part of Samaritans work is to reach out to people in the community and work with other organisations to raise awareness of what we do and offer support to as many people as we can.
We have an outreach team who work with, for example, local schools. We love giving talks to anyone who invites us, so we can spread the word.
Volunteering in Wigan Branch
Everyone in the Branch is a volunteer, from Pauline our Director to our part time fundraisers. We have between 75 and 80 volunteers. Although Samaritans is best known for its listening volunteers who answer the telephones, there are so many other ways in which you can help us. We have roles in administration, fundraising, IT support and building maintenance for example.
For more information on volunteering why not attend one of our information sessions where you can find out what we do. Just contact if you would like to attend one of our next information sessionw

Each year our branch receives over 22,900 calls for support. We need your support to help us to make sure we can be there for anyone who needs us.
There are many ways in which you can help us; no contribution is too small to make a big difference.
