Samaritans - helping people in Portsmouth and East Hampshire

We have been helping people in Portsmouth for over 50 years and cover a semi-circle above the coast, including:

  • Gosport
  • Fareham
  • Petersfield
  • Havant

We are easy to spot on the London Road next to Rowlands Pharmacy. Between 9am and 10pm you can ring the door bell to talk to one of our volunteers.

Portsmouth Samaritans -
talking to local groups

We have a great outreach team who raise awareness of Samaritans' work by giving talks to local organisations and groups in the area. Contact us if you would like to know more or if you would like us to come along to your conference or event.

Network Rail and Portsmouth and East Hampshire Samaritans have a long-standing relationship and we try to have a presence at any local railway station if there has been an incident, providing leaflets for commuters in case they have been affected.

Come to our information evening on Wednesday 6th May 2015 to learn more about becoming a volunteer.

    16th December 2014
Thanks to the generous donation of funds in memory of a late much-loved volunteer, volunteers on duty can make their tea and coffee very speedily (and get back to the phones or emails) without waiting for the kettle to boil. The noisy kettle has been packed away and in its place is a notice: "no kettle; look left for Anita's gift!"
