At Northallerton and the Dales Samaritans, we create an inclusive and enriching volunteering experience to best support each other and our callers.
Listening volunteers throughout the UK are there for anyone who needs support. Every year, we collectively spend over 900,000 hours responding to calls for help, and we can change the course of someone’s life. About Us
At Northallerton and the Dales branch, we provide vital emotional support through our FREE 116 123 helpline to those going through difficult times. Our non-judgmental and confidential service allows callers to talk openly about their feelings, thoughts, and concerns. We believe that everyone deserves to be heard, understood, and supported, regardless of their background.
We were established in Northallerton over 60 years ago and now have over 60 volunteers who help deliver our service:
- Our listening volunteers are available day and night to respond to our callers
- Our support volunteers help with all aspects of running the branch

We are particularly keen to attract people who would like to volunteer overnight, typically 01:00 to 04:00, a time when our callers can need us most. If you are an owl or a lark, let us know.
