Karl Flood (Joined the SI Board in 2017 as ROI Branch Member & Company Secretary
Karl joined the Dublin Branch in 2003. He has served as a member of the Branch Committee and on both the training and recruitments teams. Karl is a Chartered Accountant with a Master in Executive Leadership from University of Ulster and as a Diploma in Industrial Relations from the National College of Ireland.
His current role is as a Finance Manager with a Semi State Company which includes a role in Corporate Governance.
Anne Woodworth: (Joined SI Board in 2015 as ROI Branch Member)
Anne joined Waterford branch of Samaritans in 1994. She has served the branch as Branch Director (2009-2012), the Region as Regional Outreach Officer and the organisation on their Nominations Committee. Anne is currently working on the implementation of the Governance Code for the INB.
Anne was a professional singer, and lectured at Waterford Institute of Technology. During her 25 years there she was a member of the Academic Council and Board of Governors, and served as Chair of the WIT branch of the TUI. Since retirement Anne has been teaching singing at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and represent RIAM at the European Opera Academy.
Cindy O’Shea: (Joined SI Board in 2014 - Regional Director)
Cindy joined the Samaritans in Cork in 2008 and served as their Branch Director (2012-2015). She is currently the Regional Director for the Ireland Region. The Regional Director provides an important link between the Samaritans Central Charity and local branches. Cindy will represent the views of branches and are a source of guidance and support to Branch Directors and coordinate regional activity through the work of her regional officer team.
Her background is in Youth & Community Work and has significant experience in the voluntary sector.”
Gill Leo: (Joined SI Board in 2012 – Chair)
Gill joined Samaritans in 2005 as a volunteer with the Kilkenny/Carlow Branch. After a brief spell on their branch committee she stepped into the Branch Directors role (2010-2013). Gill joined Samaritans Board of Trustee in 2013 which sees her chair the Ireland Nations Board on behalf of the BoT. She sits on the Nominations Committee and the Quality & Visits group at an organisational level.
Her background from a commercial perspective is in the field of Business Analytics.
Barry Rojack: (Joined SI Board in 2014 – External Member)
Barry joined Samaritans in 2014 as their External-Legal director brining experience in legal, regulatory and corporate governance matters to the INB. He qualified as barrister in 2002 and has acted previously as a regulator and internal legal advisor in the Central Bank of Ireland, and currently in the banking sector.
He has participated regularly as a volunteer with a number of charities across the island of Ireland.
Dermot Murray: (Joined SI Board in 2016 – External Member)
Dermot was appointed to the Irish Nations board in 2016 with the task of developing its fund raising strategy. His role includes oversight of the implementation of the Guiding Principles for Fund Raising.
Dermot is CEO with the Insurance Institute of Ireland following a long career in the banking sector at senior manager level.
Pamela James (Joined SI Board in 2017 as NI Branch Member)
Pamela joined the Belfast Branch of Samaritans as a listening volunteer in 1994. From 2010 she joined various teams, Day Leading, Recruitment & Selection, Outreach and Publicity. She served as their Branch Director (2013-2016) and is currently Branch Quality Visitor.
Pamela has held a number of senior management posts in both the public and private sectors with significant experience in IT Programme & Project Management.
Clare Skelly (Joined SI Board in 2017 as Hon Treasurer)
Clare is the Honorary Treasurer bringing experience in all things financial to the SI Board and will chair the Audit and Risk Committee. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Scotland in 1994 and since then has held a number of roles in national andglobal organisations including ten years with Atlantic Philanthropies, a limited life global charitable foundation, set up by Chuck Feeney, addressing social justice issues across the world. She currently works for World Rugby.
Daire O’Criodáin (Joined SI Board in 2017 as ROI Branch Member)
Daire joined Samaritans in Ennis in 2006 and has been Branch Chair since 2013. He has two decades of experience at Board level of equivalent in the not-for-profit sector, locally and nationally.
He spent over 25 years in various senior management roles in the aircraft leasing and financing sector and, before that, 10 years in the Department of Foreign Affairs.
