Samaritans is working with the Lord Mayor’s Appeal to support people in crisis and create happier, healthier and more productive workplaces across London and beyond.
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal brings together communities, businesses and charities to find solutions to some of the most pressing issues in the City, including mental health through its This is Me campaign.
In just one year, the Lord Mayor’s Appeal has raised an incredible £450,000 which will go towards funding Samaritans’ life-saving helpline. In 2020 Samaritans volunteers spent over one million hours responding to calls for help.
I believe the initiative will not only change lives, it could save lives too.
Charles Bowman, the 690th Lord Mayor of the City of London
The money raised has also funded the Wellbeing in the City tool, an initiative which brings Samaritans’ listening and wellbeing skills into the workplace through a set of online learning resources.
The resources give employees the skills to intervene when someone is struggling, actively listen and manage difficult conversations. It also helps people to manage their own mental wellbeing.
Superb training, emotionally engaging, informative and compelling. I will be recommending this to current and former colleagues.
Samaritans is one of three charities being supported by the Lord Mayor’s Appeal for the next two years. See how the partnership is making a difference to people’s lives in our video.
