As part of the West Highlands and Skye project, we are pleased to be offering our ‘Conversations with Vulnerable People’ training course to employers and communities in the West Highlands and Skye.
‘Conversations with Vulnerable People’ will equip participants with the skills and confidence to have supportive and effective conversations with vulnerable people.
This course is aimed at anyone who has contact with vulnerable customers, service users, community members – or colleagues; and will help them to manage those conversations effectively with confidence and sensitivity. The course is led by an expert Samaritans facilitator and uses a variety of tools to encourage interaction and group learning

The course equips participants with the skills and confidence to have supportive and effective conversations with vulnerable people – allowing them to manage those conversations effectively, and with confidence and sensitivity. This course would also be useful for managers who may support staff members who are experiencing poor wellbeing or struggling to cope.
The course is led by an expert Samaritans facilitator and uses a variety of tools to encourage interaction and group learning.
The course is fully funded but you will have to provide your own venue/IT access and refreshments. If venue is an issue, then talk to us.
The course would be delivered directly to your staff team of a minimum 6 people/max 12, although ‘open’ courses will be available where individuals can join. Details of ‘open’ courses will be made available throughout the year, or, your name added to a waiting list to receive details of courses when publicised.
We would require you to recruit the participants from your organisation and provide a training space – either for in-person delivery or online. A suitable delivery date would be agreed and booking procedures undertaken. The training day is usually 9.30am-4.30pm with approximately an hour for lunch. The trainer will bring their own laptop, but we require a screen /monitor / projector / flip chart and pens in room.
We also ask you to print out the workbook, that is sent with the Joining Instructions if participants want a hard copy to use during the course.
