Walsall and District branch to get a facelift thanks to Asda
It's all go at Walsall and District branch!
Volunteers have been given a boost after the supermarket chain Asda handed over £14,850 to Samaritans, based in Bott Lane, Walsall. The money will be spent on external improvements, including work on windows and the roof.
It came after volunteers from Samaritans wrote to staff at Asda St Matthews to make a plea for support.
Martin Bateman, Asda's community life champion, who handed over the cheque to fundraiser Linda Dines, said 'The charity benefits the whole community.'
The branch have said 'We are all over the moon with this!'
In addition, the Walsall and District branch recently organised a quiz night and raffle at a local pub. Publicity officer for the branch Ingrid Lindon said they were delighted with the response. 'The pub was bursting at the seams with quiz contenders, our raffle proved very popular too, and we were absolutely amazed that we made a total of £500!'
Well done to everyone involved for working so hard to make the evening a success.
