Samaritans Workplace Training in Wales

We have been delivering courses for 10 years across the UK and Republic of Ireland, based on our 60 years of experience in handling challenging and emotional calls. These courses train staff in simple and effective tools and techniques, to equip employees with the skills and confidence they need to handle emotional situations. This includes ‘active listening skills’, how to respond to people with empathy and equipping staff with skills to end contacts positively.

These skills are useful because while employees can often feel sufficiently trained in the practicalities of their job role, many feel ill-prepared for the emotional challenges that come alongside it.

We have worked with a huge range of clients, from charity organisations such as Age Cymru, public bodies such as Powys County Council and private companies such as Philips & Cohen.

"The training we have undertaken with Samaritans helped ensure our staff are equipped to engage with customers in a sensitive and compassionate way.

They have also helped our staff to develop the emotional skills to cope with the personal stress of handling emotive calls on a daily basis."

Our courses don't turn staff into qualified counsellors, and we do not seek to recruit volunteers; it gives them the tools to provide emotional first aid to customers, service users, their colleagues and themselves.

We offer a range of communication and wellbeing in the workplace courses, all with ample scope to tailor them to meet your organisation’s specific needs.
