The nation’s favourite TV queen, Scarlett Moffatt, has become a Samaritans Ambassador
The nation’s favourite TV queen, Scarlett Moffatt, has become a Samaritans Ambassador, and will be working with the charity to raise awareness of the importance of looking after your mental wellbeing.
Scarlett, who has used Samaritans service for support, wants to use her experience to help others who may be struggling and encourage them to reach out for help.
Scarlett said: “I’m proud to be supporting Samaritans, it’s a charity that is really close to my heart. When I called for support, I was totally overwhelmed and didn’t want to burden anyone with how I was feeling. It was so nice to offload to someone I didn’t know, and that first conversation gave me the confidence to speak to my family and friends.
“I’m not sure how I would be feeling today if I hadn’t called, having someone listen to me without judgement felt like a weight lifted. I want people to know that everyone struggles at some point, but it doesn’t last forever, and you don’t have to go through it alone. There is light at the end of the tunnel and there are people that want to help and are ready to listen.”
Samaritans CEO Julie Bentley said: “We are so pleased that Scarlett got in touch with us expressing her keen interest in supporting our work. She is a real champion of self-worth with a passion to help people believe in, and value, themselves as individuals, which embodies our values at Samaritans. To have Scarlett’s support and unique approach to helping others build their resilience will help many people to start important conversations about their own experiences.”
