Samaritans CEO Ruth Sutherland comments on Elizabeth Gresty inquest
Responding to the inquest into the tragic death of Elizabeth Gresty, Samaritans CEO Ruth Sutherland said:
“Whilst we don’t know the full circumstances of this case, any bereavement has a devastating impact on family, friends and those in their wider community. Our thoughts are with all those who knew Elizabeth at this very difficult time.
“Whether you’re a parent or a young person, talking can help you to work through your feelings and find a way through your problems.
“We would urge anyone to reach out if they are struggling or experiencing difficult thoughts or emotions. If you don’t feel that you can talk to someone you know, or you are worried about someone else, Samaritans is here round the clock, every single day of the year for anyone who needs us. Our trained volunteers will listen in confidence, they won’t judge. We also have information on our website about starting difficult conversations.
“We know that these conversations can be hard, but sometimes it can be something as simple as asking, ‘Are you OK?’ to help someone take that vital first step to open up.”
