Samaritans celebrates Volunteers’ Week 2013
As Volunteers’ Week 2013 is approaching, we would like to take the time to say a big ‘thank you’ to all of our volunteers.
1-7 June is a time when volunteers across the UK are celebrated and recognised for their hard work and effort.
Without our wonderful Samaritans volunteers we would not be able to provide a round the clock listening service.
Samaritans receive millions of contacts every year and it is our volunteers who provide them with someone to talk to any time day or night, every single day of the year.
Their dedication means that every six seconds, someone is listened to and given the time and space to talk about their feelings.
As we move into celebrating 60 years of listening, it’s incredible that from one ‘one man with one phone’ we have grown to 20,980 volunteers. Every single volunteer plays such an important part in the service.
Samaritans branches across the country will be having ‘a brew to say thank you’ to celebrate their volunteers on 1 June.
Happy Volunteers’ Week 2013!
