Samaritans and Network Rail win Charity Partnership award at Business Charity Awards 2012
Samaritans with Network Rail scooped the Charity Partnership award at the Business Charity Awards, an annual celebration of charity engagement by businesses.
Newsreader Huw Edwards hosted the black-tie ceremony for winners on Tuesday 15th May at the Grosvenor House hotel in London’s Park Lane. Nearly 500 people attended the ceremony, sponsored by the Charities Aid Foundation.
Edwards, who has been chosen as anchorman for coverage of the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, said: "The winners were even more impressive than last year and the year before that - and my sincerest congratulations to you all." Huw went on to comment on the uniqueness of the Network Rail project.
Marge Mayne, chief executive of VSO and one of the judges in this category, said: "This project combines the core business of Network Rail and that of the charity, and provides a solution to both the company's business problems and Samaritans' mission."
