Press release: Ferdinand’s celebrity football fundraiser

- For immediate release -

Premier League’s Anton Ferdinand swapped Harlington for Docklands yesterday, Wednesday 18 April, delivering a charity football training session to the stars of The Only Way is Essex and lucky auction winners.

Anton offered the training session to support Billi Mucklow and Cara Kilbey from TOWIE, who are aiming to raise a staggering £10,000 for Samaritans as they prepare to pound the pavements this Sunday, 22 April, by taking part in the Virgin London Marathon.

Ten lucky people won the opportunity to train with Anton at the Lucozade Powerleague Docklands after entering the online charity auction. They were treated to expert advice and practised passing, control, heading and even had a penalty shoot-out with the QPR Defender.

Anton said: “It has been a brilliant afternoon, and I hope everyone that took part picked up some new skills. Samaritans is a fantastic charity that offers 24-hour confidential support to anyone, no matter what the problem, and I feel proud to be supporting them. I wish Billi and Cara the best of luck for Sunday’s marathon.”

Cara said: “A big thank you to Anton for showing us his support and to everyone who took part in the auction. It’s really important for us to try and raise as much money as we can for Samaritans.”

Billi continued: “We are really nervous about running 26.2 miles but knowing we are supporting such a great cause will keep us going! Please sponsor us if you can or come to London and cheer us on!”
