Press release: Chitchat

'Talk to us' is Samaritans’ Annual Awareness Day.

Chitchat, our walking talking inflatable phone, will be partying with the likes of Jay Z, Rita Ora, Calvin Harris, and the tens of thousands of people attending Wireless Festival at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford. As well as making sure people are having a good time, Chitchat will be talking to people about Samaritans and encouraging them to take part in the competition.

As well as going to Wireless, on Saturday 20 July, Chitchat will spend the day travelling around London landmarks. On Wednesday 24 July, he will be joined by staff from Jones Lang LaSalle, supporting his challenge to talk to thousands of Londoners at London Waterloo train station on Samaritans’ Annual Awareness Day, from 7:30am-7:30pm.

People can share their photos of Chitchat on Facebook and Twitter, by tagging @samaritans with the hashtag #talktous.

Rachel Kirby-Rider, Samaritans’ Executive Director of Fundraising and Communications said: “Chitchat is going out and talking to people in places where you might not necessarily expect to see Samaritans. We want to let people know that our service is here, round the clock, whatever their problems are.”

Over 40 local Talk to us events are taking place across the UK and Ireland to mark the Samaritans’ Annual Awareness Day, as the charity attempts to hold its largest conversation.  Visit the interactive map to find out about the different events happening:
