Employees at FP Mailing took part in a variety of fundraising activities, including Rough Runner, 5-A-Side football matches and taking on the notorious Isle of Wight Challenge.
FP Mailing, one of the UK’s leading franking machine suppliers, is celebrating the success of a year-long charity partnership with Samaritans, the charity here for anyone struggling to cope.
FP Mailing raised a total of over £5,000, helping to fund up to 1,000 more calls for support.
In addition, FP Mailing organised numerous bake sales, raffles, dress down days and joined Samaritans in recognising key awareness events such as World Suicide Prevention Day. During World Mental Health Awareness Week, staff set themselves an ambitious target to walk nearly 2 million steps, encouraging family and friends to get involved outside of work too.
We’re so proud of what we all achieved in 2019. Taking on the activities as a team created a great sense of togetherness and we’re really grateful to everyone for getting stuck in with enthusiasm from the start.
Jeni Myers, Marketing Manager
As part of their charity partnership, FP Mailing benefited from access to Samaritans’ wellbeing expertise. Samaritans delivered emotional wellbeing sessions for staff at both FP Mailing sites. The aim of these sessions is to start a conversation about emotional health, help employees identify signs someone may be struggling, give them confidence to make an approach and highlight the importance of supporting their own emotional health.
Samaritans offered extended sessions for us and places were snapped up quickly. Feedback from the sessions was excellent and we’re pleased to have played our part in the charity’s ongoing campaign to create a nation of listeners.
Sofia Mead, Public Sector Development Coordinator
The sessions focused on active listening and included an introduction to Samaritans’ online learning programme, which brings Samaritans’ listening and wellbeing expertise into the workplace.
It was a helpful reminder to myself and others that whatever you’re facing, at work or at home, you don’t have to face it on your own
I’ve enjoyed working with FP Mailing this year and have loved seeing staff make our fundraising ideas their own. It’s thanks to amazing charity partners like FP Mailing, that we’re able to be there for anyone struggling to cope, 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. We can’t thank them enough.
Alice Firbank, Corporate Partnerships Executive at Samaritans
