Misusing our service

We’re here for anyone who needs space to talk, but there are a few exceptions when we don’t accept calls.

We won’t accept:

  • Abuse.
  • Nuisance calls.
  • Stopping others from getting through by non-stop calling with the intention of blocking the lines.
  • Using our helpline as a sex line.
  • Personal questions.

In extreme cases, if you threaten or abuse us, and don’t stop despite our warnings, we may contact the police or take legal action. In those cases, we may share any of the information we have about you with the authorities.

If you have concerns about the way your call, email or visit has been handled, you can make a complaint to Samaritans.
