Donate now to break the silence (Winter22 #3A, Heldiney)
How your money can help us
a month could help us answer a call for help that could save a life, every month this year
a month could help train and support a Samaritans volunteer to be there throughout the year for someone struggling to cope
a month could go towards keeping Samaritans' phone line open throughout the year, ensuring there is always someone to listen when a person who’s struggling finds the courage to call
could help train and support Samaritans volunteers, making sure people are not left to struggle alone
could keep Samaritans' phone lines open for 5 minutes, giving people someone to turn to
could support a Samaritans volunteer over the next year as they answer calls for help from people whose mental health has been impacted by the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic
How your money could save lives
Why your support is needed this winter
This winter will be as busy as ever. Over the 2021 festive period, Samaritans responded to over 244,254 calls for help in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Over the 2021 festive period, we responded to 244,254 calls in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Suicidal feelings were expressed during 1 in 4 calls.
Every 90 minutes in the UK, someone dies by suicide. But talking saves lives.
During the whole of 2021, Samaritans volunteers responded to almost 2.8 million calls for help by telephone and more than 400,000 by email.
One of the things that you learn as a Samaritan is, for me, it took one call. For others, it can take 10 calls. With your gift, you’re providing a consistent lifeline to a great deal of people.”
