We're committed to providing the best service to everyone who needs us and increasingly people are turning to online services for help and support.
Digital Futures was a project to engage with people on the opportunities and challenges for emotional support and suicide reduction presented by the online environment.

We spoke to experts in a range of areas about what could be done to help people in the online environment. Hear what they had to say here.
Samaritans and the digital environment
At Samaritans, we are firmly committed to providing the best possible service for anyone who may need our support. We know that the online environment presents a number of opportunities and threats for suicide reduction, so, as part of our ongoing outreach work, we launched Digital Futures to help us further understand this important area.
We have reviewed a significant amount of research into online suicide prevention and would now like to consult with a range of stakeholders to ascertain their views on:
- What people think about the opportunities and threats for suicide reduction presented by the online environment
- What people think about how Samaritans could address these
- If there is anything people think we are missing in terms of areas for future development, challenges we could be addressing or different ways we could be working
The ultimate purpose of our online development work is to reduce suicide by improving the chances that vulnerable people online access information and support and reducing access to harmful content about suicide.
This project is funded by The Claire Squires Fund.
