Samaritans of Bath & District on the Lower Bristol Road, Bath

We have been supporting callers for 60 years and in 2023 Bath Samaritans undertook over 27,000 calls, over 1,200 Chat conversations and 160 face to face assignments.

What areas do we cover?

Our activities cover a wide area around Bath, to just east of Bristol out to Keynsham, down to Wells and Warminster and west to Chippenham and all the surrounding towns and villages.

Many of our volunteers live in and around Bath and some travel from the surrounding areas of Frome, Devizes, Melksham, Trowbridge, Radstock, Westbury and many of the outlying villages.

Our Outreach Programme

Our outreach activities are expanding, we already work closely with:

  • Leyhill Prison
  • Bath University
  • Bath Spa University
  • Norland College
  • Network Rail
  • Bath & Trowbridge foodbanks
  • as well as supporting schools in the region

Want to volunteer?

At Bath & District Samaritans we’re always keen to welcome new faces from all backgrounds, ages, and abilities to our enthusiastic and friendly growing volunteer community and we’re eager to share the wonderful feeling you get when you know you have really made a difference to someone’s day or even life.

Come in for a coffee, a chat and a look round at our Bath & District Samaritans open day at Windsor Bridge, Bath on Saturday 1st June 2024 between 10am-2pm. We will be celebrating 60 years of Bath Samaritans.

RSVP to [email protected] or just drop in!

We also run monthly Finding out More events on zoom and face to face. These events cover the work we do to support our callers, shift patterns, and what our training covers. These are very popular and enable you to ask questions of our friendly volunteers to help you make the decision on whether you would like to volunteer with us. To attend a Finding out More session in Bath, complete the application on Samaritans Home page, the link is here. Once submitted, you will be offered the next Finding out More session.

Our training and mentoring of new Samaritans is excellent, we still have some spaces left on our autumn course. We hope you’ll be able to join us.
