Welcome from Worthing Samaritans

Worthing Branch of Samaritans has been serving the town and surrounding villages since April 1969. Since 1976 we have been based in Lennox Road where we are fortunate to have a spacious Centre that enables us to provide not only a telephone listening service for our callers, but relaxing and comfortable facilities for people who want to drop in to our Centre between the hours of 9am to 9pm. We also offer email and text support for those who find it easier to communicate in this way and we support the Listeners at Ford Open Prison.

Over the years demands have changed and whilst still providing the service at Lennox Road we are also developing projects outside of the branch. We are currently working with schools and other support groups and we have an active team of speakers who are kept busy visiting local groups and organisations to explain our activities and to raise awareness of the variety of services we now offer.

We currently have 85 listening volunteers but for those who want to be involved in some other way, we also have 10 support volunteers who form a vital part of our branch providing help and expertise in IT, administration, publicity, etc. We are completely self-funded and depend to a large extent on income from our shop in Goring which is staffed entirely by a fantastic team of volunteers.

We are always looking for new volunteers for both listening and support roles, so whatever skills you have to offer, please do get in touch and come along to one of our Information Sessions where you will receive a very warm welcome and will learn more about the work we do.
