Do you feel able to be part of someone’s life when they are in crisis and offer a calm and caring voice? If your answer is yes, we want to hear from you.
Samaritans volunteers are ordinary people. We come from all walks of life and all backgrounds and cultures, but we have one thing in common: we are all very good listeners.
To ensure that we are able to continue to offer support to those in need we are looking for listening volunteers who can offer 3 to 4 hours each week. You don’t need any formal qualifications, just a natural ability to listen non-judgementally and offer emotional support. All volunteers receive special training in listening skills. We are not counsellors because we do not give adivce – we just try to understand how a person feels by giving them our total attention and really listening.
We are also looking for support volunteers who play an integral part in keeping Worthing Samaritans running. Support volunteers help out with branch administration, fundraising, publicity, outreach, and working in our shop.
