Volunteers Week 2020

Wakefield celebrates Volunteers Week 2020!

  • Posted 7th June 2020

This week, Wakefield have been celebrating our volunteers and all they do to support callers. Be it working in our shop, answering the phones and emails, looking after our building, doing outreach or training - everything our volunteers do supports us to support those who need us.

To celebrate this week, our volunteers have been taking pictures with our 'Thank You' signs, showing our gratitude for each other and sharing messages of support. We have also brought back our 'Compliment Wall' for our volunteers to leave anonymous kind messages which we've been displaying in branch. Whether we've done a shift with someone new, or want to highlight the work of someone in branch, it is a lovely way to share our gratitude and support each other.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our volunteers for being part of our family in Wakefield. The time and dedication our volunteers show is admirable and humbling. Some are answering the phones in the middle of the night, others are spending their time in our schools and workplaces educating on mental health. Many use their skills to support the running of our branch, fundraising, finances, building management, training. Our leaders are on call day and night to support those on shift, our shop volunteers do so much to keep our shop open. The leadership team go over and above to support our branch, looking after our volunteers, managing outreach, working in our local prisons. Every volunteer at Wakefield contributes to the happy, supportive and loving branch we are so very proud of - and we are grateful for you all.

Thank you - to each and every volunteer at Wakefield and across Samaritans. You're wonderful.

Compliments

Thank you to all my fellow volunteers for making this branch what it is - warm, welcoming and a supportive place where we support those who need us

Thank you James, great director and achieving so much for the branch, keeping it out in front in the region. Thanks for doing so so many jobs which many don't see.

Thank you Ken and Thelma for looking after the branch and doing all the shopping, sorting out all the issues as well as helping with training.
