Plans to move
Branch Relocation and Appeal
Interrupted by Covid, our search for a more suitable premises in Truro continues.
Cornwall Samaritans is an independent charity run entirely by volunteers which has occupied the current location at 19 Treyew Road, Truro for over 50 years. Although much-loved, because of its age the current building would need major complex structural work to offer full accessibility to all present and prospective volunteers.
The vulnerability of our income stream, which relies heavily on our shop at Par Market, has recently been highlighted by the Covid pandemic. Our aim is to relocate to a building in or near Truro which, as well as complying with accessibility laws, would give us potential to ensure the funds we need to continue helping our telephone callers, the wider community and even extend our outreach work.

At the end of 2018 we publicly launched our Relocation Appeal, met by overwhelming support. With a target of £657,000 to purchase and refurbish a building we have made fantastic progress against this target:
- £229,445 raised and restricted or allocated to our appeal
- £65,000 firmly pledged
- Our current building valued at £315,000 - £350,000 (working on lowest number)
Total raised/pledged: £609,445 / 93% of our target with £47,555 remaining to raise as quickly as possible.
Perhaps you know of a suitable building or for more information about any aspect of the Appeal, please leave a message on 01872 222 321 or [email protected]
